Description
The Old Shoulder of Mutton, Winster re-opens in July 2010 following an extensive refurbishment. Old and new are carefully blended with contemporary furniture and decoration complimenting the beamed ceilings, stone fireplaces and quirky original features.  Formerly one of the hob-nailed haunts of lead miners of old in the beautiful village of Winster, the accommodation provides two double rooms with kingsize beds and one twin bedded room.  All rooms have modern ensuite bathrooms with bath and separate shower, tea and coffee making facilities, hair driers, Freesat LCD TV, and free Broadband Wifi.  You can also relax in the guest sitting room or traditional garden.

Winster is brilliant too! Its cottages cascade down the hillside into beautiful Wensley Dale.  Discover the little lanes and alleyways through the village on leisurely walks from the door to the many nearby features – the Limestone Way, Robin Hoods Stride, Cratcliff Tor, Nine Ladies Circle, Clough Wood, Magpie Mine or the two remaining village pubs, the Old Bowling Green and the Miners Standard which both provide fine ales and good food.

Within 15 minutes drive you can visit the landmark homes of Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall, the picturesque villages of Hartington and Tissington, the renowned towns of Bakewell and Matlock or even go sailing at Carsington Water or trout fishing on the rivers Wye or Dove.

Room rates from £80 include afternoon tea and breakfast of fresh fruit and locally sourced ingredients.
