Welcome to Rockfield House, our quiet and peaceful home situated in the heart of rural Derbyshire close to Matlock.
We are exclusively vegetarian and pride ourselves on producing wonderful vegetarian cuisine, be it for a hearty breakfast or a delicious three course evening meal.
Our adult only environment is an ideal base to unwind, relax and let the world go by.
If however, you prefer to use your leisure time more actively, we can provide instruction and equipment for a variety of outdoor activities.
Kate Young and Martin Bunegar will offer you exceptional service in a comfortable and homely environment.
Wake up to birdsong in our two very comfortable bedrooms.
Both bedrooms have en-suite facilities, Freeview TV, WiFi access, a hospitality tray, an honesty fridge and a hairdryer.
Upstairs
A cosy twin bedded room with a modern en-suite shower room and separate private sitting room. Both rooms have beautiful views across the garden and beyond to the surrounding countryside.
(NB At a reduced rate, groups of 3 or 4 can be accommodated ‘Upstairs’ as the private sitting room has a convertible futon bed and there are additional toilet and hand basin facilities).
Downstairs
An especially quiet and private large double room with a comfortable seating area. It has a luxurious en-suite bathroom with roll top bath and separate shower.
Accommodation
Our unusual home is on three levels. We have one bedroom on the upper level (‘Upstairs’) accessed by two flights of stairs and a second bedroom (‘Downstairs’) at ground level. The dining room and guest lounge are on the first floor and accessed by a flight of stairs. For people with mobility difficulties it would be possible to book our ‘Downstairs’ room and take meals in the room. Unfortunately, due to the layout of the house and the steepness of the garden, we are not wheelchair friendly.
Our guest dining room and lounge is on the first floor and has an outstanding view across the valley. In this room we keep information, guides and maps of the local area and we have compiled a number of suggested local walks. On cold days a log fire creates a warm and cosy atmosphere. The aspect of the house ensures we have sun all day (if its shining!) so on warm days you might choose to relax in the garden or dine on the deck.
Food
We pride ourselves on offering exciting and innovative, home cooked vegetarian food. Whatever and whenever you choose to eat with us, we want you to be wholly delighted and completely satisfied. Kate holds the Cordon Vert Diploma awarded (at distinction level) by The Vegetarian Society.

Our 3 course evening meal will be a set menu, but we will happily discuss with you any preferences or dislikes. Advance booking (at least 24 hours notice) is essential, so why not plan ahead and let us take the strain of providing a delicious meal in a relaxing environment on the day of your arrival….and perhaps later in your stay as well!
Please note we do not have an alcohol licence. Please feel welcome to bring your own wines and beers – both bedrooms have fridges which can be used for chilling drinks.

| Non-refundable deposits
| will be taken at the time of booking. The cost of the first night or 25% of the total booking (whichever the greater) will be required.
Payment of a deposit will confirm a booking and will constitute a contract between us.
| Cancellations
and no-shows
| will be deemed to have broken that contract and we will reserve the right to charge up to and including 100% of the total booking cost, dependent on our ability to re-let the room.
