We are situated in a central location in the picturesque village of Hartington, Derbyshire, within the beautiful Peak District National Park.
Hartington is a good base for exploring and walking the Derbyshire Dales. There are many walks that start and end in the village and many more that are just a short distance away. If you prefer leisurely days out there are a multitude of wonderful places to visit.
Stanner Cottage is a small attractive, traditional stone built cottage overlooking the village pond, just off Hartington's market square. We offer comfortable ensuite bed & breakfast accommodation in our recently refurbished rooms. The twin room can be made into a family room and we are very happy to cater for any dietary requirements.
The cottage is believed to have been two cottages originally, forming a part of the Duke of Devonshire's Estate, dating back to the 1700's. In more recent times (1924-1936) the home of the District Nurse, for the Hartington and District Nursing Association, a trust set up to look after the needs of the poor of the parish.
The Stanner
Stanner cottage takes its name from the "Stanner" pond to the front of the property where many springs well up from deep under ground, believed to have been used for a local water supply and washing facility.
