With its origins dating back to the 16th century, The Chequers provides the highest standards of modern comforts whilst still retaining its original charm.
The five en-suite bedrooms are cosy, comfortable and characteristically furnished, each having its own personality. We have been accredited as a 4 Star Inn by both the AA and Visit Britain, who have also awarded us a Silver Award.
Behind the inn, the elevated woodland garden enjoys wonderful panoramic views to the west and acres of unspoilt woodland lead right up to Froggatt Edge.
Chef Paul Spruce offers innovative cuisine using locally sourced fresh produce. A wide menu of European & British dishes is complemented by an imaginative wine list and local real ales. General Manager Debbie Robinson looks after the day to day operation of The Chequers.
We are proud that we have recently retained our AA Rosette Award for the 7th year running, and have twice recently been runner-up in the Best Pub category at The Derbyshire Food & Drink Awards. Our entry into the Michelin Eating Out In Pubs Guide has also recently been confirmed for the 5th year in a row.
The Chequers is open for lunch and dinner every day, serving all day on Saturdays and Sundays. Table reservations are not always necessary but advisable.
